Was always bidirectional running even with the ABS acct they used a check lock
system between block stations. The dispatcher would set up the current of
traffic with the aid of the operators at each block station. This was done
away with by the CTC
2. In my 1961 Track Chart the third main ran from Galesburg to Bishop(mp
157.85) I use to tell Lou Paxton the second trick op at Seminary to run the
trains out track three (to keep it shiny) or they would tear it out.
Management did anyway with the revamp of Galesburg Yard. Now they must use one
of the mains to switch on so the DS can not run traffic.
3. See track chart for Buda in the File Section Elwood Branch came off right
at the crossovers had two track double ended yard with roundhouse and a 63.75
ft deck girder air crab turntable. Only good for F1 (tender full) and
k2(tender empty)

Following analysis of the Mike Spoor's photos and the trains article can
anybody tell me
1. When did bidirectional running stop on the mainline?
2. How far did the third line running parallel to the mainline
go?
3. Where did the Buda -Elmwood branch- line leave the main
line?
