There is a freeware program called UsaPhotomaps. (http://jdmcox.com/)
It allows you to view a specific location via satelite photos. (Some
prior posts have mentioned Google Earth, but for rural locations its
not so good. UsaPhotomaps is better IMHO. You can actually see where
the tracks used to go!
I have used this program to develop my trackplan for my HO layout
(chicago racetrack) and also used it to develop routes in Microsoft
Train simulator.
Highly recommend you check it out. I did, and can clearly see where
tracks were years and years ago.
I live about 15 miles from Buda, never been there cept travelin on
the train to Chicago. Was thinking about taking a driver over there
Saturday as its supposed to be 60! (keep ya posted if I do!)
