Greetings All,

BB #4 does indeed give the delivery date for the Q's FTs'. Only 16 sets in
total during WWII.
But not their assignments.

It looks like the first sets were delivered as they slowly became available
from EMD.
And there would have been the post delivery tests, familiarisations, training
etc before the motors were pressed into service.

I have seen a reference to a 'pool that protected traffic from Texas to the
Pacific'.
BB #4, however, shows WWII period photos of FTs on the Chicago - Denver line.

Has anyone information on the early assignment of these FT sets?
Did they venture onto the C&S trackage?
And if so were the FTs crewed by ATSF trainmen? (The ATSF had experience in
operating FTs but I assume they were as short of engine crew as they were of
FTs and Colorado is a long wey from Winslow AZ and points west).

Burlington Bulletin #4 covers all the F units. According to it, the FTs were
delivered between 12/43 and 9/44.

Greetings All,

When did the Q acquire its FTs?

Was there a pool the operated between the the Pacific North- West and Texas
during the last stages of WWII?

Is ther any recommended reading on the Q's FTs?

Kindest regards, Mark Sellars
South Australia
