Dear Burlington Route Historical Society,

Please pardon the mail email and last-minute nature of this message...

My name is Karen Durham and I do promotions for the Gene Siskel Film
Center. A film that would be of great interest to railroad enthusiasts is
the documentary THE PHOTOGRAPHER, HIS WIFE, HER LOVER, centering on O.
Winston Link, renowned for his stunning nighttime photographs of the last
steam trains passing through small-town America, and how his last years
were engulfed in scandal. We will be presenting this documentary for one
week only, October 27-November 2. Below is a blurb about the film, how to
buy tickets, where our theater is located, etc., and a link to the O.
Winston Link Museum.

Please forward to anyone whom would be interested, especially to members
in the Chicago area. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have
questions.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Karen Cross Durham

GENE SISKEL FILM CENTER PRESENTS CHICAGO PREMIERE OF
THE PHOTOGRAPHER, HIS WIFE, HER LOVER
CENTERING ON THE SCANDALOUS LAST YEARS OF TRAIN PHOTOGRAPHER
O. WINSTON LINK
2005, Paul Yule, Britain, 79 min., Beta SP video.

"Like any good mystery, the deeper one digs--and Yule digs deep, asking
lawyers and witnesses all the right questions--the less certain the facts
become. . . See this disturbing but undeniably entertaining film and
decide for yourself."--Ken Fox, tvguide.com

Renowned for his stunning nighttime photographs of the last steam trains
passing through small-town America, the late O. Winston Link was (in the
words of one curator) "a legitimate American genius and nut." His last
years were engulfed by a lurid scandal that plays like a combination of
RASHOMON
and THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE, featuring a "Latin bombshell" wife, a
friend-turned-lover, an alleged plot to imprison and defraud the old man,
and a government investigation that either brought a scheming bitch to
justice or crucified a too-assertive woman. All the major surviving
players speak out with sometimes unflattering candor in this fascinating,
sordid tale whose ambiguous grays form the flipside to the
black-and-white purity of Link's masterpieces.
