This is an FYI post to O-scale & O-gauge CB&Q fans. I am not a
manufacturer, dealer, or vendor.
In early August, 3RD Rail (a division of Sunset Models) finally
released their brass CB&Q Hudson models in 2-rail & 3-rail. Road
numbers #3007, #4000, & #4001 were produced. The 3-rail versions
have RailSounds. All versions have engineer & fireman figures and
many details in the cab. #3007 & #4000 have BoxPok maindrivers with
spoked front & rear drivers (not sure about #4001). #4000 & #4001
have Mars light, ATC box, & sold cst pilot wheels. #3007 has no
Mars light and has spoked pilot wheels. #3007 & #4000 have Elesco
feedwater heaters while the #4001 has the Worthington style. The 3-
rail version runs on minimum O-54 curves.
To me, these locomotives look fantastic, but we can all decide for
ourselves. To my knowledge, the only other 3-rail O-gauge CB&Q
Hudson models are from Weaver (die-case with generic tooling) and
Lionel (die-cast semi-scale).
