[CBQ] Question about photo posted in the folder named "Freight Cars".

I have a paint related question about the car, CB&Q 86579.

Was this car originally painted light grey or an off white?

A friend is doing an undec one and wondered where to start, color wise 
that is.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
