Steve,
Concluding from an article by Hol Wagner in Mainline Modeler April 95
following series of CBQ/CS
triple hoppers were built by the Havelock shops:
Car numbers Class Qty. Capy.
Truck Built
170000-170499 HT-10 500 2,773 73
1948-49
170500-171099 HT-10A 600 id. 73
1951
171100-171849 HT-10A 750 id. 83
1953
172000-172499 HT-10B 500 id. 86B
1960
20000-20149 HT-10C 150 id. 86B
1961
The latter are the C&S Cars, all painted in Chinese Red (with black
undersides and trucks)
and equipped with roller bearing trucks, so relettering a mineral brown car
in C&S would not be correct.
The first three series were originally all mineral brown with the Everywhere
West slogan on both sides.
Any of these cars repainted between 1959 and 1963 got the Chinese Red
scheme, while cars from the
second series that were overhauled in 1962/63/64 were painted black with the
Chinese-Red style
white lettering. That's all in a nutshell; maybe you can still get a back
issue of said MM; you might try
www.railpub.com.
Hope this helps, Ben de Vries, Holland
