I'm trying to find old photos of the station and yards at Ravenna in the
days when it was active as a division point. When I lived there in the late
30's and early 40's, it was a major activity center on the Lincoln-Billings
line. My Dad was second trick operator and yard master. Many train crews
lived in Ravenna. Ravenna was a small town which enoyed unusual prosperity
due to the railroad. It was a great place!
Ravenna had a large yard with a sizable roundhouse. Many trains went
through, many making engine changes, all trains changing crews. During the
cattle season, there were as many as 34 extas hauling cattle from the west.
It was a busy and interesting place.
I have many memories, but nothing much to show for it. I visited there last
summer and searched around for old photos, without success. Everything is
now gone accept for the mainline tracks and a small yard. Train crews no
longer live in Ravenna. I'm hoping for help. Dale Reeves
