Hi,
Where was the locale of the three in Illinois?

I have an excellent used copy, with dust jacket & mylar cover (ex-
library but very little marking or wear) of "Covered Bridges of the
Middle West" (OH, MN, MI, IL, WI, IA, IN, NE, KS; i.e. every state
served by CB&Q except WY & MT).
This o/p book by Richard Allen (Stephen Greene Press 1970; 152 pages
with index, glossary & profusely illustrated) cover all types of
covered bridges plus a list of existing ones. There is a chapter on
RR covered bridges in the midwest and guess what? The Q had 6!
Three in NE (the only RR covered bridges in NE) and 3 in Illinois,
one being the last RR covered bridge in use in the midwest (1951).
There is a photo of that one plus another IL one with a early diesel
switcher pulling a combine thru on a branch local.
I will sell to the best offer by March 1 (or will swap for any pre-
1929 Q TT I need or other Q 'paper') Thanks! Gerald
off list = vje68@hotmail.com or (641) 923-2573, Sunday evening best
(PS - the only evidence it is ex-library are glue marks where card
pocket was inside cover and "Withdrawn" stamped on one page - NO
other markings, stains, etc. VERY good copy of an o/p book. I have
a print of a Q covered bridge Bernie gave me & I recall him saying
there were others but he did not have data or photos - well now you
can have pics of two!)
