Would Siems Stemble Co have done the conversions? Searching for this company on
Google turned up a reference to "GN flat cars 64500-24 two cars permanently
couple, equipped for farm implements, possibly built by Siems-Stembel in 1929."
However, the company apparently became part of SSC in 1931.
The FM-11's were originally built at Galesburg in 1928 (91000-91249) and 1930
(91250-91849) and the first three sets 88000-88002 were converted in 1961 or
1962. In February 1964 there were 70 sets, and 72 sets were shown in August
1964. At that time, the number spread was 88000-88082, suggesting an intention
to produce more of these sets.
"Yes, I know this has nothing to do with diagram book pages but as I have
none of those this is the best I can offer."
When you offer information like this, who cares about the original title!
