Ken
Just been reading your message to the List last week
"My copy of the 1965 folio lists 15000-15002 as XAP-1 in the description
then XML on the drawing."
I've just found an undated diagram showing 15000-15013 (not -15014) as XAP-2,
the same as Mike Spoor's Color Guide page 65. However, I don't have any other
cars identified as XAP-1, and I suspect that your diagram classification of
XAP-1 is more likely than mine.
Whilst on the subject, I've also found a diagram of 49400-49799 shown on the
diagram as DF equipped XML-11 but these are shown as XM-4C on page 60 in the
Color Guide. They were classed as "XML" in ORER's right through to 1970. With
their waffle sides, these cars are dissimilar to the XM4 and XM-4A's and I
would have expected them to have their own separate class number.
Just in passing, I've also found a diagram of 15100-15102 labelled solely as
"XML" with no class number.
Any thoughts or comments?
Regards
