After WWII, 9844 was assigned to the Beardstown to
Herrin run as trains #11&12. The discription sounds a
lot like Litchfield. Single track extended from
Concord to Shuttac and from Zeigler Junction to
Herrin, but on the latter segment, no depot was near a
crossing flasher.
