All,
I too am awaiting my calendar that has been late more than early in my 10 years
of belonging to the BRHS. I also belong to other Historical Societies, and to
add they are not late with their calendars. And may I add they are volunteers.
Not being able to complain about the lateness is a dictatorship. It also
leads to complacency by the people working on the calendar. In light of this
and other enlightenments this year about our society I for one will be looking
very close at my next election list and be assured anyone that is a current
director etc. will not recieve my vote. I happen to believe that things need
to change and it is not going to happen until the death hold by the current
dictators is broke.

To All on the CB&Q list,
I allowed my CB&Q membership lapse for a year and now regret it.
I plan on renewing here shortly and I am not overly concerned on the
calendar's arrival date. Maybe not like clockwork or the Zephyr, but it will
show up
sometime soon.
This is a volunteer organization and unless YOU help, things don't get done
unless you want to pay a lot more in dues. I have not helped in the past and
will not complain.
I think the BRHS does a great job and I would like to thank them for their
hard work.
I belong to the Union Pacific Historical Society too and I just received my
calendar from them on Dec. 23rd. and it is produced by the Union Pacific
Railroad. That makes it easy to provide for the members!!!
It would be great in more than one way if the Burlington Route Railroad
produced a 2005 calendar. That would mean maybe a blackbird or Chinese red
locomotive would still be seen in the Havelock shops!!! Instead of using the
effort to
complain, why don't we start using the effort to campaign. Try to bring on
new members for the BRHS and in different regions that it ran. I notice a lot
of
people on the list are from Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. I don't see that
many from Nebraska and the "Route"was really big here. I don't know the
number of
BRHS membership right now but what about setting a goal. Contact old members,
retired employees and our friends who remember the Zephyr. Maybe next year at
this time we will have plenty of good things to talk about.
