Assuming the rivet pattern shown in Wm. Glick's plan/diagram book are
accurate, the NKP kits' sides appear to match the 1490-99 series more
closely than they do the 1500s, so I would stick with the lower numbers (I
assume you're building the NKP kit).
Within that 10-car "class," how you number your car will depend on whether
it has an end conductor's compartment (with window) or not. Only Nos.
1490-93 had these compartments. Nos. 1494-99 were windowless.
Unfortunately, I don't know when the modification took place.
