Fellow Q Fans,
The Fort Madison, Farmington & Western will hold its annual open house this
coming weekend, September 25-26 from 9am to 6pm.
Operating equipment will include CB&Q Edwards doodlebug #507 along with a
"freight" train with CB&Q waycar #13929 bringing up the markers.
Located just east of Donnelson Iowa on the roadbed of an authentic Q
branchline, big fun can be had by all ... if the planets are in proper
alignment, I hope to be the brakeman on the Q waycar ... just ask for
Burlington John.
To sweeten the pot, there is a "Great Smoky Mountain" combine/obs that serves
as the museum car at 'Minerville' ... the trucks are stenciled CB&Q and C&S.
Additionally, a CB&Q ballast hopper #180070 and a Bevier & Southern coach can
be seen & photographed.
Imagine riding over the right of way of a former Q branchline in an authentic Q
doodlebug or a Q waycar ... it just doesn't get much better!
