Jim, My source is the CB&Q system passenger timetable for
May-Sept. 1949: The Texas Zephyr (Trains 1& 2) end point cities
were Denver and Dallas. The Sam Houston Zephyr (3 & 4) end
points were Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston. The consist for the
Sam Houston Zephyr is a parlor car, dining car, reclining chair
coaches, and baggage car. I assume that both trains would
have EMD E-Units (E-6 or E-7) but someone else may be able to
answer that. I'm not sure if you are assigning No. 49 & 50 to the
Texas Zephyr? 49 & 50 were assigned to the Empire Builder and
North Coast Limited.

and what were the 49-50 consists. What was the usual power for
both trains. I want to thank you for your time and trouble.
