Christopher;
The O-4's, were built as standard USRA heavy Mikados and were delivered
without feedwater heaters. For whatever reason, the Q added both types
of feedwater heaters to engines of the class, but as far as I can tell,
they were not switched after installation.
According to the 1935 and 1952 engine assignment charts in Corbin's
Steam Locomotive book, there were 8 engines with Worthington and 7
engines with Elesco as follows:
Worthington: 5500, 5501, 5502, 5504, 5507, 5508, 5509 and 5513
Elesco: 5503, 5505, 5506, 5510, 5511, 5512 and 5514
Kind regards, Rob Adams
