Norm;

Thanks for the detailed record for the MTZ assignments. Very helpful!

I must say that the entry for 6/18-9/7/1937 does puzzle me a bit. My
understanding has been that the Advance Denver Zephyr was only run
during late 1936 immediately prior to the full Denver Zephyr train sets
coming on-line.

The public timetable I have from June-September, 1937 lists trains
43/44, but notes the STL-BUR MTZ as being "temporarily assigned to other
service", but as mentioned previously, I didn't pick up on its
assignment from that TT. That same timetable shows the Denver Zephyr
with the full train set in the equipment listing and no mention of any
other equipment or trains (unless I missed it). Could it be that the
MTZ was being used as a second section on the DZ to accomodate overflow
passengers? Or was one or more of the full DZ train-sets out of
service for some reason? Or is there another explanation?

Might you or another member be able to shed more light on this?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards, Rob Adams
