Service inaugurated Jan 7, 1941 over the shortest route between St. Louis -
St Paul (CB&Q - CRI&P) Equipment was provided by both RR. On the rear of each
train was a dining parlor obvs. provided by the RI
1947 inauguaral consist.

Sleeping accomidations were increased in 1943 with the addition of a 8-1-3
slpr. to each train. Pullman Rocket Tower and Pullman Zephyr Tower.
Minneapolis became Q 651 and Zephyr Tower became Q 662 in 1948 when Pullman
divested itself of its sleeping car fleet. ( Both cars retained their names)
Cedar Rapids and Rocket Tower became the property of the CR&P
In 1959 the name Zephyr - Rocket was dropped
Service was discontinued in 1967
