You may remember back in October 1999 there was discussion between Ken Martin
and Rob Adams regarding GB-1 gondolas, part of which was related to those
appearing in the 1919 ORER numbered 181000-181999. They was, of course,
considerable anxiety caused by the uncertainty surrounding the origin of these
cars.
I am pleased to belatedly advise you of a note in the 1915 ORER that cars in
the series 81000-81999 were being converted at that time from drop bottom to
solid bottom, and were being renumbered by putting a "1" in front of the number.
