All:
While this thread got headed in the Chrysler direction the
original subject was "CB&Q Divisions".
To clarify and bring up to the present day:
Do not understand what you mean by: "A Division Point".
There is no "Lincoln Division".
The Ravenna SubDivision of the Nebraska Division extends
from essentially the East End of Lincoln Yard to just
beyond the Control Point at West Ravenna.
>From that arbitrary point just West of Ravenna it is the
Sand Hills Subdivision of the Powder River Division.
Crews work from Lincoln to Ravenna and return and from
Alliance to Ravenna and return. These are standard single
ended pools. Ravenna's crew base, at the present time,
consists of an Extra Board with two Conductors and two
Engineers.
There would not be a lot of sense in trying to run thru
Lincoln to Alliance. Terminal congestion at both ends
would make this difficult from an hours of service
standpoint. In addition it would create yet another ratio
pool worked from both ends.
There is talk of actually spending the money necessary to
eliminate a ratio pool on the Nebraska Division but I do not
know if that will happen and does not involve Ravenna.
Other Divisional changes:
BNSF no longer has the coal contract to Arbor NE so there
will no longer be any interchange of coal trains to the
KYLE at College View.
Directional running is now fully implemented between Denver
and Amarillo. To more fully integrate the Powder River
Division now includes the Boise City and Dalhart SubDivisions.
An Assistant Superintendent of Operations position has been
established at Trinidad.
Southbound trains now operate Denver to LaJunta and then
LaJunta to Amarillo. Just two crew districts.
Northbound it's Amarillo to Trinidad and Trinidad to Denver.
The only normal exceptions are the coal empties out of
Holcomb KS and Lawrence/Tecumseh KS which come from the
East into LaJunta on the LaJunta SubDivision of the Kansas
Division. They run against the traffic flow at least between
LaJunta and Pueblo. Still use a Denver crew of course.
There are no crew changes at Pueblo, Boise City, or Texline.
There is a small board maintained at Pueblo for trains that
originate there and what yard jobs are left. I do not know
If the UP has maintained anything there at all. Do know that
BNSF has been forced to do the 1000 mile inspections on the
Kingsmill TX coal loads at Baxter since UP no longer has any
carmen at Pueblo.
The UP trackage rights trains follow the pattern. UP has
obtained trackage rights between Trinidad and Dalhart which
fills in the last segment they did not already have.

Ravenna was and is the division point between Lincoln and Alliance. What a
place that used to be! Ravenna was once a great railroader's town. Many
train
crews lived there. That small town (pop. 1800) had more Chryslers for its
size than any place in the country. Every street was paved. I have
wonderful
memories of what Ravenna was in the 30's and 40's. Today it is still a div.
pt., but crews don't live there. (The RR has dormitories for crews living in
Lincoln or Alliance. I think the RR wants to lengthen the Lincoln Div. and
eliminate Ravenna as a DP. Sad situation.
