Hi, Folks-
I'm new to the list, and primarily a Rio Grande buff, but I'm hoping
that won't be held against me <g>. however, I am also a passenger train
fan, and a Budd fan, and IMHO, no one did better with both than the Q.
I found a couple of comments interesting, my two cent's worth:
First, some manufacturers ARE pricing UP (and predecessor roads) items
higher. Check out the pricing on Athearn's HO SD50- the UP and DRGW
roads are $5 higher than the others. I never noticed Atlas' lack of
different pricing for UP products because I never looked at the SD24
(hey- different worlds, different interests)
Second, I find it interesting that the UP spokeswoman said "On a $10
model, royalty rates are pennies". Maybe for the manufacturer, but not
by the time the item hits the shelves. Also liked the $10 figure-
multiply that by a factor of 5 or 10, since that's what most locos are
going for!
