I once rode the DZ Parlor Car to Galesburg. Here's an obscure question.
What was the primary use of the Drawing Room in the DZ observation? Harry
Murphy used it to go home from Chicago to Aurora. He'd show up about 2
minutes before departure with the Chicago Daily News and retired to the
drawing room under the dome. I don't know how he came into Chicago in the
morning but I doubt if it was a Dinky. Probably the Eastbound Blackhawk,
Ak-sar-ben or American Royal. The Eastbound DZ arrival would have been too
late for a legitimate day's work. Anyone have any details or other
conjecture?
