Some lightweights on other roads still had ice-hatches for refridgeration in 
the late 30's or 40's.  I recall at the Kansas City Railroad Museum icing the 
Tavern Lounge Observation "Hospitlality" for an excursion from Kansas City to 
St. Louis.   I suspect some of the Frisco buffet cars from Pullman Standard 
may have been similiar.
