Lines West (west of Pacific Junction, Iowa) is where there were a lot, if not
the majority of the oil-burners. Denver, KC, Omaha, Wyoming, were the home
turfs of the oil burning O classes and S classes. The C&S had their own classes
of locomotives and their larger mainline power had a fair amount of oil
burners. Oil burning 2-10-2's, 2-8-2's and 4-6-2's were seen on the C&S. As
usual
Corbin's book (Steam Locomotives of the Burlington Route) or Hol Wagner's (The
Colorado Road) are worth the time and expense if you can find one.

Coal burners were found in someplaces in the west, but mostly on the east
side running Chicago, Galesburg, St.louis, Twin Cities.
