I just got done watching "The Greatest Show on Earth"
for about the fifteenth time. No, I did NOT get up at
4:30 AM. I set the VCR and taped it. It was as good as
I remembered it. I had forgotten the scene showing the
GG-1. Also at the start, the Priest was blessing the
train. I think, that outside of this movie, this the
only time I ever saw that! I'll bet the Holy Water
sizzled when it hit that firebox.
The first time I saw this flick was over fifty years
ago, at the Ritz Theater, in Zeigler, IL, with a
little slender, blue-eyed, blond honey, sitting beside
me! I could always pick'em. Her Daddy owned the
theater. Talk about a cheap date! It cost plenty
later, but that's a whole other story. Co-incidently,
I have a photo of the old Ritz and on the marque, it
says, "The Greatest Show on Earth".
