Glory Be! For all you Burlington diesel lovers (like me), Atlas announced
today that they will finally be doing HO & N Scale SD-24's early next year.
The analog version numbers will be 'Q' #502, #506 & No#. DCC versions will
be #504 & #515. They will be doing both High Hood (CB&Q & SOUTHERN) and Low
Hood (SANTA FE & UNION PACIFIC) versions and detailed 'road specific'. The
'Q' version will have High Nose, Single-Chime Horn mounted on short hood,
Gyra-Light on short hood (non-operating) and Winterization Hatch. They have
pictures posted on their web site a www.atlasrr.com and as with all recent
releases, Atlas does not inventory new items and these will be 'Built to
Order'- so get with you local hobby dealer and get your reservations in as
soon as possible. I believe the Distributors have to send their Dealer
orders in by Oct. 3rd. I have been waiting for Atlas to do these for quite
some time now and since they did the SD-35's- they have had the mechanism to
use on the SD-24. Now.....if Stewart could only shake loose with a U25C/U28C
and someone else some nice Atlas quality U28B's and U30B's my roster would
be complete. It just keeps getting better!
