Bud Eastin flagged Main Street in Burlington for years. Bud lost his arm and
the railroad put him to work flagging until his retirement. Now he would be
deemed a safety hazard and forced into retirement.
Bud was a real nice guy that lived south of the Burlington airport on 20
acres and sold fresh eggs to rr employees at 20¢ a dozen. Only time I saw
him mad was when my German Shorthair Pointer jumped out of the car and
killed one of his chickens. Bud was hot. The chicken cost $1.25. But the dog
was smiling ear to ear when he came around the barn and dropped the chicken
at my feet.
