Per that "67 OER, 4814 of the Q's frt fleet were wood or wood composite (40
& 50' box cars, gons & stock) out of 43,289 or 11.1%. Toss in the 243
composite hoppers #221500-215749 (listed as interchange equip along with 907
steel ballast hoppers also listed as interchange due to their use for sugar
beets, etc) & the overall # of wood cars is 5057 or 11.7%; better than 1 out
of 9 cars. I.E. if you model the Q, even late 60's, you need wood
equipment. (Not to mention all the wood waycars still rostered & the high %
of wood equipment in the MoW fleet which then numbered 2505 not counting the
"ballast" cars that saw dual service). And finally a qty of the 2166 BREX
cars were wood as well. Just wish Sunshine model kits were less expensive!
