Very interesting Hubert. Maybe there is hope for us CB&Q modelers.
Every previous references to these models discusses their Canadian
Pacific prototype. I notice you mention that "If it is the CP Dome
Coffee Shop Coach, it's very similar to the Vista Dome Coffee Shop Dorm
Chair Coaches Burlington built for the Kansas City Zephyr and American
Royal Zephyr". Since you say "if", are you speculating based on this
one photo in the sales flyer that this might be the case, but don't know
for sure without seeing the model or a better photo? I believe this is
the first time it was pointed out that this actually could be used to
model any of the Q's dome cars.

Will,

The photo is the Walthers flyer shows a VIA Rail (ex Canadian
Pacific) Dome
Coffee Shop Coach.

If it is the CP Dome Coffee Shop Coach, it's very similar to the
Vista Dome
Coffee Shop Dorm Chair Coaches Burlington built for the Kansas
City Zephyr
and American Royal Zephyr. The window arrangement is nearly
identical, as is
the floor plan, less the Dormitory Room.

If your want to kit bash, you could swap out the Outside Swing
Hangar Trucks
for the correct Burlington Inside Swing hangar trucks with Disc
Brakes (No
visible brake cylinder.) Add some full skirts, and you would
have a good
looking car which would suggest the Burlington prototypes Silver
Garden and
Silver Patio.

While built for the KCZ and ARZ, these cars showed up on
virtually every
fifties and sixties Vista Dome equipped Zephyr (AKZ, DZ, TCZ,
including the
California Zephyr when ever the Vista Dome Coffee Shop Dormitory
cars were in
the shops, or to accommodate groups.

I'm happy to see them coming. Even with no special work and
simply lettered
Burlington, it will be a welcome model.

Hubert
