You can add turbochargers to any of theses blocks. The block
designation does not indicate whether it was turbocharged or
not.

567D was stock in the GP18, SD18, GP20, & SD24 but is both
backwards and forwards compatible.

The 567B had a rather crummy cooling water distribution system.
The 567BC solved some of those problems and the 567C took
care of the rest. The "D" block was only a very small step in
development and one road that bought a lot did not even like it.
N&W bought 48 GP18's and eventually retrofitted them all with
567C's.

There is at least one BNSF GP30 with a "D" block.

An additional note: The 567B block can not have 645 assemblies
installed. There is an adaptor kit available to use 645's in a 567BC
block and with the "C", "D", and "E" blocks it is just a straight
change out. Only thing is, you have to do them all. This is usually
backshop work and even in a class overhaul if there is a good
engine there that kind of work will just burn up labor dollars for
very little advantage. Don't pay no attention to the people that talk
about reducing your parts inventory. That line don't hold water.
Assemblies are rebuilt by outside firms on an exchange basis and
the rebuilders don't really care that much about which version comes
in or goes out.
