Its 1946 and your the Condr on the Rockfalls wayfreight operating Eola to
Rockfalls and return the next day. This day your westbound at Plano,Il and
have the train in the clear. After completing station work you talk to the
Dispatcher and advise that given the size of your train and amount of station
work at Sandwich you cant get in the clear and will need to leave the train
in the clear at Plano,go to Sandwich w/only Sandwich cars and return to Plano
and then go west to Somonauk. The dispatcher agrees to the moves and issues
train orders to cover same.
The claim for 100 mile lapback was declined as "the dispatcher did not
authorize these moves".
it took 9 months but eventually J.R Simpkins got the crew their payment.
