John and list That's the way it was done on the Lincoln Division as well...Livestock was normally kept on the head end so that it could be quickly set over for "feed, water, and rest" at terminals. Trains making pickups were supposed to hang onto the stock when picking up "dead freight" so that it could be kept first out.
