For some "real life adventure" read RULE 99 by E.S. Dellinger (Former Frisco 
Trainman) and one of my favorite Railroad Raconteurs...right under Harry 
Bedwell.
in RAILROAD MAGAZINE...about 1950 plus or minus...If you need the exact 
sitation I can get it for you.

It will give you an idea of the "interaction" of trainmen and 
cattlemen...It's a good railroad story too.
