The Naperville Wreck happened on April, 25 1946. Train
#11 was rear ended by train #39 as it was doing 45
m.p.h. It happened at 1:05 p.m. and killed 45 and
injured 69. The cause was determined to be failure to
operate following train in accordance with signal
indication. The recommendation of the ICC was That the
Q discontinue the operation of passenger train cars
which do not meet present standards intermingled in
trains with cars meeting such standards. Tim
