If I remember correctly, WLS shared a frequency with WCFL and came on
late. WCFL had the daytime hours. They were owned by the Chicago
Federation of Labor. And WLS also featured the WLS Barn Dance from the 8th
Street Theater on Saturday evenings. Many great early stars got their
start there. WLS also carried Studs Terkel after midnite which fantastic
music of the 1920s and 1930s. Studs rhymed his comments. Then the whole
shebang went to h--l in a handbasket when rock and roll came onto the
scene. (VBG)

Could get WLS in Delaware in 1964/65. Local R&R station went off the air at
midnight on Sunday-- flip to WLS and get another hour or more account of the
time difference. WOWO in Fort Wayne too.
