And the trained historian/researcher replies "AAAAAAAAArrrghhhhh!!!!"
NEVER laminate a historical or collectors' document. You have destroyed its
value in one fell swoop. And with older paper, you are going to lock in
whatever deterioration processes are under way.
Photo shops sometimes have chemically neutral sleeves for preserving photo
prints - you will find similar stuff available through dealers who sell such
things as autographs and other historical documents. As usual, the "store in a
cool, dry place" applies. The private collector can hardly do what the Library
of Congress does . . . sealed nitrogen-filled cases are kinda expensive.
But PLEASE don't laminate the stuff with historical value!
