The last train to have E5s regularly assigned as the main stay power was the
FW&D/C&S Texas Zephyr. These E5s had the 3 red nose stripes and the small fake
grills one each side of the top headlight (mars light). The E5s carried the
complete paint until discontinuance of the Texas Zephyr on 9-11-1967. They left
the property in March of 1968 as trade ins on new C&S SD40s. By the way 9911A
at the IRM was the the lead unit on the last TZ as 9952A (C&S).

Exist?
The 9912A was the last E5 in service. About a week or two
in suburban service during Dec of 64. I did not see it run after
that.
It had three red stripes on each side of the lower headlight and
a bunch of thin red stripes underneath and on both sides of the
Mars light. Each side looks like there was a little door installed
but the stripes go right over it.
No, it did not have the horizontal red stripes down the entire length
of the sides.
