This is all very preliminary (and subject to immediate correction by
someone in Illinois with a tape measure!) and kind of an exercise in what
may be possible in documenting something only available through
photographs.
I took the four best online images I have (all fairly low resolution and
not nearly as good as an acutal scan of a photograph), and rectified them
according to the carside from the rear edge of the cab door to the rear of
the carbody, and from the bottom of the sidesill to the bottom of the
grille openings. To the best of my knowledge, this is 632 inches long and
72 inches high.
I warped and scaled the images so that there was 1 pixel per inch (i.e. a
strip 632x72 pixels) using Picture Window Pro. I then opened the images
in IrfanView (because it will give the dimensions of a selection box),
viewed at 300%, and "lassoed" each side window to the outside of the
frame. This is very subjective due to the fuzziness of the low-resolution
images.
The results are
"9911" - 50x23, 51x22, 28x22 inches for the two double and one single
window
"9914" - 51x22, 51x23, 27x23
"9954" - 51x23, 53x23, 28x23
"Pilot" - 52x23, 52x23, 27x23
The averages are 22.75" tall, 51.38" wide for the double windows and
27.50" wide for the single window.
For what it's worth. I'm kind of interested in seeing what the actual
measurements are. My estimated measurements from IRM are 50x23 for the
double windows and 26x23 for the single window.
Best regards,
Randy
