Thanks to all who have been kind enough to post info on this subject
thusfar. Tom and a couple others have mentioned an apparent numbering
change in the passenger trains. Just last night I read in Holck's "Color"
book, Volume 2 that the passenger train numbers were changed in October of
1968. This augments info I recently read elsewhere that the freight train
numbers were changed at that same time "...in anticipation of the BN merger."
Another question -- Holck mentioned something about mail contract expiring
or being cancelled sometime in 1967 in a photo caption of some train. Was
he referring to something specific on the captioned run, or did the ENTIRE
Burlington system stop hauling mail at that time?
Thanks again, all.
