You can also see railroad tracks at http://www.mapquest.com/ This site covers 
the whole country and you can scroll, pan and zoom to anyplace in the country. 
Apparently, old railroad lines are shown on these maps since I noticed that the 
old CB&Q (now labeled ATSF) tracks are still shown between Concord, ILL and St. 
Louis.

All, here is the Iowa Department of Tranportation site with an interactive 
map of Iowa. You can pick a county or city and zoom down to a level to see 
track placement and yard layouts.
