The coaling tower at Eola was large due to the number of jobs that originated
from there and the yard engines.Eola was home to locals to Congress Park,Fox
River branch,Oregon,Mendota/Barstow/Clinton,Sterling,West Chicago,West
Batavia/Geneva,the 2 to 3 yard jobs(per shift at a minimum not counting the
Sheep Yard extras,Lyon Job,Alley Job,etc.
Dont forget that many(if not most freights s/o and p/u @Eola and could fill
the tank and tenders if needed.So a lot of coal must have come out of that
tower daily back in those days.
