As many on this list know, the Heartland Railroad
Heritage Society is slowly restoring the old Q/B&MR
roundhouse at Nebraska City, Nebraska. This will
become a genuine historic site, not an adaptive reuse
project. It is intended to restore the structure and
surrounding area as they once looked in the steam
railroad era. With that in mind, does anyone know of
extant CB&Q documents, drawings, photos, etc.,
relating to this roundhouse and its ancillary
structures? I would surmise that official Q
engineering department records might still exist
somewhere. These would be most valuable in restoring
this historic site. Also, if anyone might know of
former employees that might be familiar with the site,
that would be helpful also.
