Rich,
One of the other members of the list referred to a CD-Rom of past Bulletins.
Not being an expert in copying data, this seems to possibly be a more cost
effective option to making past issues available. Besides, having the
information
available on disc for reference would preserve the copies that members have now.
I know of several members who purchase additional copies of Bulletins and
Zephyrs
for use in reference work.
I think the idea deserves some serious consideration.
What do you think?

Subject: Re: [BRHSlist] Bulletin Question
List,
In the past, the Society has made a practice of reprinting the most popular
Bulletins. The economics of reprinting issues make this a difficult
endeavor. To make the press run price reasonable, you need to run in the
vicinity of 1000 - 1500 copies. This may represent a many year supply to a
"lifetime" supply, depending on the article and its potential buyers. The
Board has recently looked at reprints, but at this time, we do not have the
available cash to tie up in inventory.
Obviously, the most popular Bulletins tend to be the "equipment" issues. We
have reprinted issues like the Shovelnose Bulletin (with sales to the Museum
of Science and Industry), the Twin City/Nebraska Zephyr Bulletin (with sales
to the Illinois Railway Museum) and issues like the Reefers and the E-Units
(just darn popular) For us to reprint some of the more narrowly focused
Bulletins is unlikely, unless we were to put out a "combined" issues like the
reprint of Bulletins 1, 2, and 3.
The Board is acutely interested in publishing material on the Burlington.
Trying to finance the reprints of past Bulletins is a high priority of ours.
At this time, we do not have the available money, but we will continue to
evaluate the situation.
