BRHSlisters,

Here's another interesting email I received today. I'll look through my
library and the Archives, but I could use help from anybody on this one.

Please remember to include Linda's email address in the To: or CC: fields of
your replies.

Subject: mail car desk

Hello,
My husband and I have an old desk which we
thought was a stationmaster's desk. We have been told it came from a mail
car and that the mail was sorted at the desk and then put into a slotted
file to the right of the desk. Our desk is about 44'' long. It has a slanted
desk top with 3 draws below, the last on the right is keyed and the other
two have knobs. The back is quite high and has slots on either side and the
middle has 2 shelf. The top is all one piece as is the bottom. It is made
out of walnut. The draws and back boards are all hand hewn. Can you tell me
where I might find a picture of a Mail car desk?

Thank you,

Linda Dennis
