Leo/Will,

There was a fair number of meat and produce shippers that
routed traffic thru Peoria, some via the TP&W and others
directly to the NKP, P&E, PRR or whatever.

What I question in the original posting was the CPT.

I doubt there would have been many valid routes to Chicago
via Peoria in the tariffs. Even if there was it would not
speed up the car at all. Any Peoria to Chicago routing is
going to be slower then just going CB&Q all the way.

If the intent is to delay the car waiting for a better market
then we get right back to the tariff problem. Intrastate
rates were killers and if the shipper diverts the car to say,
Peoria and then reconsigns it to the CPT they might get hit
with a combination rate that would kill the whole deal.

Have some Galesburg to Peoria train lists. I'll see if there
is anything like that there.

It may be that the schedule in the book is a little confusing.
The intent is that any of the Council Bluffs to Chicago
roads can make the 8th morning delivery to the CPT.
Only the CB&Q and C&NW can make a 7th day connection
at Peoria. I think it strange that the Rock Island is not listed
as a Peoria connection. It could be that they just don't want
the business. The other roads are ruled out geographically.
