Larry,while I'm not an expert I vote for Savanna as being the ideal yard to
switch cars in. It rolled ever so gently to the west and those nice long
leads at the east end were ideal for pulling out long strings of cars and
just getting the slack and letting them roll into the classification tracks.
Just the opposite of places like Eola,Mendota, Rochelle,Rockford,West
Chicago,etc.Eola was famous for the "rollbacks or rollouts".Seemed like you
were always shoving up a hill.
