Life-Like has produced both Phase I and Phase II GP7 in CB&Q black & gray
scheme. Unit numbers #200, #201, & #209 are Phase I GP7s. Unit
numbers #254, #262, & #267 are Phase II GP7s.

I myself do not own any Phase I locomotives. I do own four of the Phase II
locomotives. From what I can tell, the Phase II locomotives do not
have the same color gray paint as the locomotives I see in photographs. The
gray also does not match that of gray on the Chinese red and gray
schemes. The gray on the models is too dark, almost not gray. Since I was not
born until well after 1970, I can only rely on the color
photographs of Spoor and others. I also can say that the horns that Life-Like
installs on the models is a generic three bell cluster
positioned on the top of the short hood forward. All of GP7s I have viewed have
two single bell horns positioned one on the side of long hood,
near the roof, on the fireman's side, and one on the side of the short hood,
near the roof, on the engineer's side. The head light assembly is
a two lens unit. On the Q GP7s, they had a four lens configuration on each end.
These are the things that I have noticed, if there are
others, please point them out.

But, none-the-less, I like them very much. In my opinion, I think that the
Proto 2000 CB&Q locomotives are the nicest, best detailed plastic
locomotives that are on the market today. They are affordable and easily
available.
