I have mounted the H-101 on all of my Proto SD-7/9's, including drilling the
upper for the intallation of a bulb for a working mars light, class lights, and
number boards, and, oh yes, the head light, off, dim and bright.
I also have several GP-30's, a GP-20, ( all in the Black bird scheme that have
operating class lights, low nose head lite, working number board head lite and
mars light.
The car body does not have much room left with all the wires inside. Carefully
remove the upper headlite from the clear casting, attach a brass tube to the
number board/head light casting at the proper level so that tube lines up with
the upper hole, with a tight fit against the shell. Do the wiring, and voila, a
working mars light. Shorten the lower head light so that a red MV lens can be
inserted to the lower light.
I used Undecs, so, get your headlight casting in place, carefully drill through
the shell, both head light and class lights, and mark the weight for bulb
placement. Drill the weight, one hole for each light, recommend extra strength
drill bits, just a bit larger that the bulbs. Wire up, use tape to attach wire
to under side of nose to clear gear tower.
I use 12 volt bulbs in the nose, 14 volt in the mars light, and 16 volt for
number board and class lights. Get MV lenses of the correct size, remove foil
from all clear lenses, and attach with a clear drying agent, such as crystal
clear.
Yes I do have a streak of masochism in my blood!!!!!, but do the units sure
look good.
I will be at the meet in Paducah, and may bring one or two if I can find the
room in the car.
