Though the photo only shows the original Westmont depot in the background,
Jeff Wilson's Burlington Across the Heartland has a photo of it on page 29.
For those of you who attended the 1999 Annual Meet in Aurora (hint, hint!) a
packet of information was handed out that had drawings of the suburban
stations. The drawing shows Westmont station was built in 1921. It was 1155
square foot rectangle (52' 6" x 22' ) and was "tile with brick veneer to belt
course. Cement plaster above". It had a ticket office, a small storage room
and a waiting room. It was on the south side of the tracks (as were all of
the suburban stations except for Lisle).
I also remember the hideous "Tubes" station. Ed DeRouin had a picture of
that in the second installment of "The Land of the Burlingtons" in Passenger
Train Journal back around 1980. Five or ten years ago they knocked those down
and built a nice brick station (no loss!)
